First time builder - Gaming rig

Hey all-

Excited to take the plunge into building my own system. Please keep in my mind I am a total noob at this. Any general advice would be much appreciated.

It's primarily for gaming. I also plan to get the nvidia 3d glasses and one day probably hook it up to a projection or nvidia 3d surround.

for that kind of budget i can build you a pc with 2 gtx 460's and 3 monitors but i am going to sleep now

It is hard to decipher just what you ordered.
A description and a newegg link might be better.

1) what resolution will you be gaming at?
If it will be 2560 x 1600, then dual GTX470 is good.
Otherwise, consider just one GTX480. It will be plenty good at 1920 x 1200.
It will cost less initially, and you will still have the option to go sli later.

2) The Rosewill is not a good buy. The 1000w sounds impressive, but if you look at the label, it can only deliver a max of 52a on the 12v lines.
The XFX 650w unit can do the same at $99.
The XFX 750w unit will deliver 62a for $140 and is silver certified. Modular too.

3) Add a oem cpu cooler up front. It will keep you cpu cooler, and if you overclock, you can go higher and easier. This is much easier to do initially, compared to adding it later.
I like the large tower type coolers with a slow turning 120mm fan. Almost any will do. You should be able to find one for <$40.

4) Are you a student? If so, look for an academic version of windows-7 for about $30.

5) As a suggestion, download and read the motherboard and case manuals cover to cover before you order and build.

ahhh, hard to read. check mrhoshos' signature to get the format on how to ask your question so it will be easier for us to give our advice.

Alright, with that out of the way i would first suggest some subtle changes. you should change your hard drive to this Samsung F3

i would also recommend the Scythe Mugen 2 for cooling (you would have to make sure it would fit in your case)

and go with the 64 bit version of windows

would also agree with geofelt on the power supply, you might want to check into other NAME brands such as corsair or seasonic, XFX usually makes good PSUs also.

For a total of 2,167.27 after tax and shipping. I also got a couple free games and windows 7 home 64b through some combo deals and an extra10% off the video cards because of special that ended yesterday. I went with the 40gb ssd because I just bought 1.5tb external drive that i will use with the system.

2 quesions. I know I went overboard a little, but I wanted a very high quality system. Do I need extra cooling (I do plan to eventually OC the 930), and if so what do you recommend. Also is there anything that would definitely change (keeping in mind I already ordered it from Newegg and it will be a pain to return)
