hello,

I am building a pc that is centered around gaming, but still with other purposes as well. I plan on getting 8gb DDR3 Corsair memory but will that make a big difference than a 4gb DDR3 Corsair memory (only $30 dollar difference since its on sale). I mean differences in terms of gaming AND in terms of just normal task (web browsing). I have a p8p67 Asus motherboard if that matters. Thanks!

Well the question is this:
Will DDR3 RAM be cheaper or more expensive in the future?

I see alot of Cl6, CL7, CL8, CL9 RAM with 8-8-8-24 latency, or 9-9-9-24 latency. Is that more important than the CL number?

DDR2 is out of the question right?

Do you recommend 1333mhz Ram? (or, why, looking at your build.)

So you would recommend:
8gb 1333 CL7 7-7-21
or
8gb 1600 CL8 8-8-24

I would defiantly not go over 1600mhz, as the memory controllers on the cpus cant control much higher than that, and that the higher you go the less worth it is. Tomshardware did a thing where they did memorybandwidth divided by price and 1333 cl9 won.

I would go with either 1333mhz or 1600mhz, they don't really make a difference.
Anything less/more, I'd stay away from.

7-7-7-20 > 9-9-9-24

For the first 3 numbers, the lower then number the better,
the last number is, the higher the better, but for gamers, stick with looking at the first three numbers.

Are you sure that the CL latency is suppost to be higher? I thought it was like a delay time, measured in cycles, so lower would be better. Also the lower CL ram is alot more expensive than the higher CL ram....

I've been talking alot to Memory Express Representatives recently. I've been building my own computer.

First Number is CAS Latency. The lower the better.
Second Number is RAS to CAS delay. Also lower, the better.
Third Number is Row precharge time. Lower, the better.
Last number is your RAS Active time. Judging by the name it's best to have a larger amount of time for it.

Ok I finally looked it up and the RAS active time should be low. Its the amount of time before the data leaves the chip, so the lower the better. So ALL TIMINGS should be as low as possible.

My question is this; I could buy these two sets, the 1333 being 20 bucks cheaper,

8gb G.Skill (Ripjaws I think) 1333 CL7 7-7-21
or
8gb Corsair Vengance 1600 CL8 8-8-24

which one is best?
