Is my motherboard dead?

So, yesterday I came home and found that my PCI-express slot wasn't working. It wasn't the video card because I tried it on my dad's computer and it worked fine. My assumptions were confirmed when I tried to use the nVidia auto-updater and found that the program was unable to detect my graphics card. So, as a try, I reformatted my computer today. After my computer was done reformatting, I found that the color on my monitor was extremely blue. I guess the integrated graphics are failing on me. I've had this computer for 5-6 years now, so can anyone confirm its a motherboard problem? If it is, I might be forced to drop about three hundred dollars on a new case+harddisk+CPU+mobo. I want to get a i5

I don't think your motherboard died. It's probably just a dead PCI-E slot. A new motherboard should fix your problems.

Turns out the color was due to a malfunction on the cord, not the motherboard.
