I bought hd 4850 around 10 months ago and i've played many games since then on all settings maxed out at a resolution of 1280x1024.
But around 3 weeks ago, FPS in games started decreasing significantly with each day.And no matter what the graphics settings were,i was getting the same crappy FPS.Since i'm using a CRT monitor with sreen refresh rate at 70 Hz so 70 FPS is the limit that my monitor can display. Here are FPS of some games :-
NFS MW :- 25 fps(now) and 70 fps (before)
Street Fighter :- 23 fps(now) and 70 fps (before)
Crysis Warhead :- 18 fps(now) and 50 fps (before)
Left 4 Dead :- 22 fps(now)
Blur :- 13 fps(now)
Split Second:- 15 fps(now)
I've reinstalled my OS(Windows 7 Ultimate) many times since then and have thoroughly scanned my computer for virus infections but it's still the same.
My PC specs are as follows:-
CPU:- Dual Core @ 2 GHz
RAM:- 2GB Kingston
HDD:- 250 GB Seagate
Graphics:- 1 GB HIS HD 4850
PSU:- 500 Watts
