Power port is broken.

Hey,
i dropped my inspriron 15 and the power cord ended up braking off the plastic pin on the inside of the port. I call dell and that said i had to replace the mother board to fix it. Im on the laptop now and its working just fine. I was wondering if I could charge it with some kind of USB cable instead of paying almost $300 for a laptop thats just over a year old. Somebody please help me.

You cant charge it with a USB cable, you need to replace the motherboard as the connector is sodered into the board. Unless you are good at sodering and can buy a replacement part. Its unfortunate that it will cost almost 300 bucks but thats the only way to fix it.

I have a Studio 15 I know what plastic pin you are talking about, Never seen one break though.
