You've got a good build going there so far. :) The i5-750 is a great CPU and overclocks well too, if you ever wish to try that. Though I'd strongly recommend an aftermarket cooler in that instance.

The GSkill Ripjaw RAM you've chosen is a good set as well. And the motherboard is a more simplified version of what I have, and it's a great choice as well. :)

As far as video cards. The ATI 4850 is a great card. Though I agree with ionut19 with his suggestion on the ATI 5770. At 1680x1050 resolution the ATI 5770 is what I always recommend for overall performance. Plus, since it's the newest generation card in that segment, it'll have longer driver support.

Mainly though, for your resolution and gaming in mind, I'd suggest the ATI 5770 as...

Why not go for this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161317 ? It is a little more expensive but i say it is worth the price.

And the performance of the card is just below the 4870. With an overclock you get the same performance.

At that resolution you will be able to play almost all games on the highest settings with it. You also get Dx11 with it and a custom cooler witch helps keep the temperature dawn.

I say the 59$ more are worth paying.

You could certainly spend more on something faster, but it isn't really needed unless you get a larger monitor and/or become a dedicated PC gamer. :) If you're not really going to play games on this system, then you will certainly do fine with the ATI 4850. Even if you did play some games, with medium settings or so you could get by playing games with that card anyhow.

Thanks for the informative reply, I will most surly look in to the 5770, is there a mfg. you recommend over others ? Also I already planned to install a cpu cooler http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?category_id=1623&product_id=2922 it maybe a little small, but it needs to fit in this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129044 do you have any other thoughts on this ? This forum is outstanding for helping the newbe to understand ! Thanks for taking the time, I know its hard to find it these days.

Yeah, the HD5770 is a good choice if you can afford it. If you need some extra funds to do so consider getting a different PSU. You really don't need a 650w Corsair HX. Even a 450w Corsair PSU would be ample for that system including the card but newegg actually has a nice deal on the 650w TX for just $60 after the rebate and promo code;

If you would rather stick with a card in the $100 area then this HD4850;

is a better version of the card with twice as much memory, a hefty factory overclock and a nice fan. With the promo code it's also a dollar cheaper initially and a full $28.50 cheaper when you factor in the free shipping and rebate.

I suggest maybe an ATi Radeon HD5750 or HD5670 or HD5570 all good for what you want to do...

The HD5750 would be OK but I wouldn't recommend the HD5670 or HD5570 for gaming at 1680x1050 unless he can't afford anything better. Even if he want's to save money an HD4850 would be a better buy and more appropriate for gaming at his resolution.
