Scratched Motherboard

Hello, I replaced the heat sink of my rig and accidentally scratched the back of my motherboard. Now my motherboard an MSI 790FX GD70 is posting an FF error. I have done everything from replacing the ram and taking in and out the graphics card and it still posts and error. I just want to know if a) this could be the cause? and b) if this is still salvageable? Thank you for your time!
*(the scratch is the small one on the left side of the right backplate screw)

More about scratched motherboard
  1. It could be, especially since it looks like it scratched over the copper lines around the CPU. If thats the case, then it would be a motherboard replacement. Are you getting past the POST screen? Is it giving you a specific beep code? Do you have a display on the mother board showing you the FF error? Just trying to get some more info.
  2. If the copper traces have been severed you may be able to repair it with a conductive pen like the following :

  3. Holy cow, I didn't know that existed! I'm buying one today!
