XP refresh rate in D3D

I've just got windows XP, and am using 12.83 detonator drivers for my GeForce card. Whenever I run any direct 3D or open GL software, the refresh rate drops from 85 (my destop rate) to 60htz. In windows 98, once I chose a refresh rate for a resolution, D3D and oGL would use the same refresh rate, but now it acts like this. How do I set the refresh rate in direct 3D?

Other than this, I've found XP to be pretty decent in terms of performance over 98, although it's clearly got some early problems like mine. I got 100 more 3D marks (3d mark 2001) and a whopping 20fps higher in quake 3 arena 1.3 timedemo.

You could try adding an override value. Run DXDIAG. Under the More Help tab, click the Override button, and add your preferred refresh rate. Just be careful with this setting, and don't enter a refresh rate that your monitor or video card cannot support.

You could also install the WinXP Refresh Rate Fix.
