Questions About My ZTsystems i7 - 870

Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 870 (2.93GHz)
8GB DDR3RAM
sataII 1.5TB HDD
ati 4350 video card
350watt PSU
Windows 7 64bit Home Edition


I just now setup the above system and checked out Win7 Device Manager.

A couple of questions:

Device Manager shows the following HDD - Samsung HD154UI ATA. It does not show any SATAII devices. Should it show SATAII HDD? Also, Windows 7 Experience shows the through put as 5.9.

How can i tell if the PC is using a SATAII?

Your system is absolutely fine.
Device manager simply lists your disc drive.
And 5.9 is the highest score a sata2 drive will achieve.
Unless you know of a way of plugging your sata hdd into ide your fine.
Look at your mobo sata headers i'll guarantee the hdd is plugged into the right sata header.
You wouldn't be able to boot into windows otherwise.

Thanks. It's anew system (that i like) and I'm i'm still figuring it out.
Also, it's very quiet. After upgrading the video adapter and the PSU I'll be a happy camper.

BTW,is SATAII faster then IDE?

I think the 870 chipset is SATAIII capable but that's not a concern right now.

Yes it is i have hooked up both types and ide scored a 5.3 on the WEI.
I've hooked up 3 different sata hdd's and all scored a 5.9.
Not really a huge difference but faster nonetheless.
Alot of people on this forum go offside(saying ide is terrible, horribly slow etc....) when some posters want to use IDE hdd's on their new systems.
