System Build Advice Requested

I've decided to build a new PC after a long (15 year) hiatus. I have been using Macintosh computers for the last several years and would like something that was a bit more serious for gaming. I am a little reticent to go the AMD route since I have had problems in the past, so I decided to choose an intel i5 processor to save a bit of money. I'd like to keep the build around $1000 or less.

How does this list of components look? I've picked some based on combo deals currently available, does this sound reasonable or are there some tweaks that could help me get more bang for my buck?

Looks pretty good.

I might suggest going with the EVGA GTX 460 SC EE, which has similar performance to the 5850 but cost less.

Also note that LGA 1156 shall be usurped by LGA 1155 as soon as end of this year/possible Q1 next year if u intending to sink a wee bit on chip + board FYI...
