So I have $3271.68 in my Paypal and i just build my new rig. Can you guys make any recommendations on it and make sure all the parts will fit? This is my 2nd build so Iam hoping everything will go smooth.....

Basically for this build I went with AMD and Ati.... :bounce: its my first time using them so we will see.... my current i7 is going to my dad and his old i7 is going to my little sister and her rig is going on ebay.... ;) So if anybody can double check my build, I'd appreciate it

Well Iam spending it evenly. Iam not going to drop 1K for a processor alone.... gtx 480's nah, (2) 5870's will do it for me.

Links still do not work. I have to strongly agree that with $3000 Intel is the way to go. Not a 980X maybe but at least a 930 with some major overclocking. AMD is great for budget limited systems but for raw power Intel can not be beat. Hell clock for clock ( not including price just speed) AMD is still behind 5 year old Core2.............

@amoghthegamer The link you have is still not public. You're still pointing to your private wishlist. The link you provide should have "PublicWishDetail" in it somewhere, like this link: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=19998648

@goalguy876 Just for gaming, there's no reason that it's required to go Intel, even with a large budget. You can get dual 16x/16x on the 890FX chipset, so there's no concern that you'd be bottlenecking dual graphics cards. And if you think that the processor power is lacking, you can theoretically get a Bulldozer CPU next year.

Except for a select few games, there's very little gaming difference between an i7 and a Phenom II X4. Anandtech X4 955 vs. i7-920.

Grand Total:* $3,004.88

If you do not like the gtx480 replace them with 5870 sapphire vapor-x. The i7 will not be a bottleneck in your PC. You can overclock it easily and in games the 6 core AMD loses big time. The faster model is a little better but no need for a six core CPU.

This is a copy-paste from another post of mine. I hope it helps you a little.

I get where you are going with this, I have an i7-860 right now and I want to check out AMD, never owned an AMD Machine so I thought I'd check it out.... Also I read somewhere that 5870 > GTX 480?

Wow if I had an i7 860 I sure would not piss away $3000 on an AMD or anything else build. I would be pretty happy with what I had. Must be nice. With cash to blow like that you are crazy not to get an i7 980X. Might as well get an AMD and downgrade from what you have just to spend some money right? lol They don't even make anything as fast as an i7 860.

You mean in size? ha ha ha..GTX480 is generally better then 5870. And there a a little bit more games that favor nvidia.
The above system in terms of graphic power is very good, very balanced system. Also you get a little more form sli then from crossfire.

I would not spend any close to that amount of money on a AMD system when intel gives you more powerful CPU's.
anort3 is right in terms of power of the CPU's from AMD.

If you really want an AMD system i will try mo make you one.

This is a AMD based system with 5870 cards. Place the cards in the first and 3'rd PCI-E slots for better cooling when in crossfire.

The first one is still more powerful i say.
