Soundcard for Roccat Kave Headset?

Hey All,

A friend of mine shipped a pair of Roccat Kave headphones to me from the UK and I want to make sure I get the full affect. Right now it seems like they are lacking power as the audio is very soft. And I'm getting a raspy noise from my center speakers. What soundcard can you recommend?

My Kave is powered by Creative XtremeGamer card. I tried the headset with the onboard audio (Realtek 889A) but it was weak as you explain yourself.
After I plugged into the sound card, the headset came to life...
I even had to lower down the volume on the control pod (the volume for the channels, not the master volume).

I'm assuming the headset is non-USB...

My recommendations remain the same: ASUS Xonar D1/DX and HT Omega Striker.
