If you are going to use that resolution the 5970 is ridiculously overkill. At that resolution a 5850 would suffice for maybe the next two years. The 5970 is pretty huge, so if you need a new case I would recommend the CM 690.

I have a 955 with a 5870 and it doesn't bottleneck it AT ALL. You sir, need to brush up on your bottlenecking facts.

EDIT: Thats a good build from mrhoshos96. Go for that one, assuming that you do want to get the 5970.

EDIT #2: When I was building my system I had the same problem that you MAY have. Make sure you have RAM that is definantly compatible with the motherboard since the ECOs may require a BIOS change before it runs up to snuff. So you may need to change the BIOS it could even boot the system. I just had to buy some cheap RAM to get a boot up, change the BIOS, then insert the ECOs and you will be all good.

I also said that resolution would be minimum, which means that I would be playing at higher res, but if fps is unbareable(less likely) I would switch it down

Also I'm using a lian li case ATM.

This build was meant to be future proof, I DON'T want to upgrade in a long time. This is why I'm going with the 5970. 955 would be overclocked to about 3.8 ghz. Xfx lifetime warantee is what got me to get their 5970.
