I'm a complete newbie who just took the plunge into linux yesterday. I thought everything was goin well until I couldn't get any audio. I have an Epox 8kha+ mobo with the AC'97 audio codec on-board. Is ALSA my solution? Is my hardware supported? Am I screwed?

if you've gone through whatever sound setup tools your distro has, but still get no sound, have a look at www.alsa-project.org or opensource.creative.com for either some drivers, or some tips for your card.

Also, here's a link to the "Sound HOWTO": http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Sound-HOWTO/index.html

SB Audigy isn't supported under linux, I guess Creative starts the same sh*t as they did with SBLive when it came out. It took about a 8 month to get more-less normal Live driver out for linux. AC97 codec found in VIA SB is supported and I have always get it work without a major hassle..
