How to repair hitachi external hard disk drive

Hello,
I dropped a 500 Gb hitachi external hard disk USB 3.0. I haven't been able to open it on three different computers. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

You likely damaged the drive with the drop -- the read/write heads or another key component was probably broken, although if the cable was plugged in when you dropped it -- the USB 3 connector could have been broken. If you cannot RMA it (i.e. it is out of warranty), I would open the case and remove the drive and attach it to an internal sata data and power connector.
