Is there a difference in performance with IDE and S-ATA connections? I have 3 hard drives that I use and one of them is a 20GB IDE Hard drive, So I decided to just put it in my system.

More about : ide sata speed

IDE has been obsolete for nearly a decade. SATA offers much higher bandwidth, and I believe improves latency as well.

Yes IDE is much slower than SATA is - PATA is up to 133 MB/s SATA Revision 1 SATA 1.5) is up to 150 MB/s. SATA Revision 2 (SATA 3) is up to 300 MB/s. SATA Revision 3 (SATA 6 ) is up to 600 MB/s.
You can get SSD-drives which connects through your PCI-Express port which isn´t bottlenecked by the SATA6 600 mb /s barrier so speeds over 600 mb/s is available.

Thanks, I think I'm still going to use my IDE drive as a slave though just for the sake of extra storage.
