I have a problem with my hard drive

Hello,
i'm trying to open my external hard drive and format it ,the problem is not the usb cable, my pc is reading it ,what to do plz reply,thanks

Open the start menu and right click on computer and select manage then in the left pane double click on disk management , you should see you hdd listed there . If not then you have to connect the hdd to your computer in some other way besides the usb cable. If you have an external enclosure then can you open that and connect your hdd by sata cable directly from the MB.
