Hello,
I am building a gaming system and I was considering the P55 chipset on the 1156 platform motherboards from Asus instead of the x58 chipset because of the higher pricing of Intel's i7 processors on the 1366 platform. Take a look below and tell me what you think.

Here are the components i am thinking about buying :

- LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner (SATA)
- Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
- EVGA GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
- Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
- ASUS P7P55D-E Deluxe LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
- COOLER MASTER GX Series 750W ATX12V SLI Ready (80 PLUS BRONZE)
- COOLER MASTER HAF 922 ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
- Intel Core i5-650/660/670 Clarkdale 3.2/3.33/3.46GHz LGA 1156 CPU
- COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Cooler (air cooler)
- AOC 22'' LCD screen ( I already own this)

Other Information:

- The temperature of the room will be at 25-30 degrees celcius most of the time but it could only get lower.
- I am looking at an $1,100.00 budget ............. Also shopping at Newegg.
- I would like to find out the CORE differences between the i5 6/7 series and the i7 8/9 series.
- I would like to be able to play DX11 and DX10 games like BFBC2, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, Dirt 2 and etc....at Highest settings with atleast 2-4AA with frame rates above 25fps.
- I am also interested in having USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0 GB/s support ( which is why I chose the motherboard I did)
- If you are going to suggest LGA 1366 motherboards, like the ASUS P6T Deluxe v2 or the ASUS P6X58D-E, please ensure that you give a good reason for it. The same goes for Intel's i7 processors.
- I will also be overclocking so advice is requested there as well with regards to the i5 or i7 processor.
- I may do SLI sometime later.
- Not looking to be using lots of electricity. (negligible statement - ;) ;) ;))

Thanks in Advance.

A few things u should know about SATA/USB 3.0 tech and mobos as shown by our very own forums here

Also note that LGA 1156 shall be usurped by LGA 1155 as soon as end of this year/possible Q1 next year if u intending to sink a wee bit on chip + board FYI...
