People of Tom's

I'm considering purchasing an Acer AX3910-U2032 for my office, but because of some legacy software, need to run a 32bit OS. The computer comes with Windows 7 64 bit pre-installed and an Intel Pentium E6600 dual-core processor. From what I understand the processor can run in both 32 and 64 bit modes.

I was wondering whether there are any known problems downgrading a 64 bit system to a 32 bit OS (such as Windows XP), and whether there are any potential conflicts between hardware, other than the processor, and a 32 bit OS.

Drop some knowledge on me.

Nope. You should be able to install the 32 bit OS and run it without issues.

"Legacy Software", the bane of all computers everywhere. At work , we still have a Windows 3.1 machine for that very reason (never bothered doing the Windows 95 port...).

Keep in mind, you could also use XP mode, assuming you have the professional edition of 7.
