i gave my aunt a used dell inspiron 8100. p3 1.13ghz, 512mb ram, 20gb hdd, blah blah blah.
the screen is amazing! with xp, it defaulted to 1600x1200. its so beutiful i was tempted to keep it myself, but i really dont need another computer. but heres the problem. shes my aunt, and she has trouble seeing the things on the screen cuz the resolution is so very high, making everything so small. so its difficl;t for her to see:(  and when i set it down, it maintains the small size, and only uses up the middle part of the screen, not full screen anymore. how do i make it so at lower resolutions it fills the screen and makes everything bigger? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
TIA :)

There are setting in windows to increase text size and increase icon size. In vista its in the control panel under the ease of access submenu.

SO, you right click on the screen, Properties, Settings, then move the slider to what resolution?

(Your monitor's native is 1600x1200? Is it LCD or CRT?)

Did you try the ease of access settings? You could also try setting up the magnifier to make certain parts of the screen larger.

i dont think this is an xp setting. could it be hardware design limitation? for example, on my ibm r50 laptop, it did the same thing, until i enabled H/V EXPANSION in the bios. but i cant find the setting on the dell laptop...

I can't see your images from work. Make sure the resolution you are choosing is compatible with your graphics adapter. Check the resolution specs on the laptop. Have you tried 800X600?

Here is your solution:

"To resolve it, do a FN+F7(Font) option on your keyboard. You may have to do it twice to toggle it on and off. This will stretch your screen."
