Funny thing, I've been researching my new Sandy Brdige build for a while now (BF3 OCTOBER BABY!!!) and was really upset when the 2500k asus p67 (pro?) combo deal passed. We'll I tried falling asleep tonight and bam, new email. Check it: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?p=40201159#post40201159

I still want the 2500k because theres not much point in having the extra power of the i7, but bragging rights will serve me well =).

So I've also been doing some RAM hunting as well.

Corsair's Vengence looks pretty good...

As for looks (ok performance but for the price you can do better)

That is FRIGGEN SCHWEET.

Or should I max it out and get some 2200? I've never actually OC'd but very well plan to. I'll probably be picking the board up tomorrow at noon or so and don't necessarily want to buy ram from Microcenter because I can get it online, but we'll see. If I don't I'll have to wait till Monday or so to get my Newegg shipment or wherever.

Any and all input is appreciated.

I mean the lower the better, but probably around the range were posting, 120.

Any reason on the two that you picked?

The timings are a bit better. I prefer the lower timing RAM's. CL9 RAM's are the slowest RAM's available. Although you wouldn't notice the change, its a matter of personal preference for the RAM's which i picked. And somehow Corsair do overcharge a little for their RAM's. You would get other RAM's of the same specs with lower price on newegg.

lower CAS has more effect that higher Mhz on the ram. Having a X58 board with a kit of triple channel Dominator GT 2000mhz 8CAS ram I have tested several combos of CAS and Mhz and seen that with 8 CAS and 1600Mhz u reach almost the maximum of the bandwidth. If you could find some CAS7 1600Mhz i would definately recommend. More that 1600 has 0 effect unless of course your CPU has a BLCK of more than 200 (and therefore the ram sets itself over 2000mhz using XMP profile)... I am using i7 930which has 133BLCK and I use a multiplier of x12, with RAM voltage on Auto.

ALso, I've heard that corsair vengence series is more good looks than performance...
