Build for 3D Program (3DMax) and gaming

I am new in this forum
I plan to build a new PC for the purposes of 3DMax and Gaming
but I'm a little confused
whether I should use an i5 750 with Digital Alliance - GeForce GTX 470
or
i7 860 with HD 5850 digital alliance

specifications for i5:

pros : Intel - Core i5 750

MB : Asus - P7P55D EVO

RAM : G.SKILL - F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD trident series 2x2gb

GPU : Digital Alliance - GeForce GTX 470

HDD : Western Digital - 320GB SATA-II 16MB

optical Drives : Lite on DVD RW 24x SATA Black Box

Power Suplly : Venomrx - Red Diamond 650W

Cases : Cooler Master - Elite 310 Blue

and for the i7 860-based system
I just replaced the motherboard with the ASUS P7P55D
and HD 5850
so what a good system? i5-based specifications or the i7 860
(sorry for my english )

Also note that LGA 1156 shall be usurped by LGA 1155 as soon as end of this year/possible Q1 next year if u intending to sink a wee bit on chip + board FYI...

if new technologies LGA1155 will emerge at the end of this year
It will be a separate issue
I can not wait until the end of this year
because I need this PC for my college needs (and a little for gaming)
My main problem which is better between the i5 750 (or 760) with a GTX 470 or 860 with 5850 i7
