I'm leaning towards the Phenom, since it offers L3, and it's more future proof in my head


What will perform better? I haven't been keeping up with AMD as I was a few years back


Mainly play valve games, (tf2, l4d2, gmod,) & GTA
crysis, whatever now and then
1080p

If you're overclocking, definitely the Phenom. If not, the Athlon will typically be a tad quicker.

hi-tech legion reviewed both CPUS and got similar OC in both processors

I think he meant that the Phenom will perform slightly better when both is OCed to the same clocks due to L3.

But Id take the Athlon over the Phenom even if youre OCing, the 810's crippled L3 barely does anything; and the Athlon being a C3 part, will run cooler while having a higher OC.
