Hello everybody,

I would like to get opinion on this build that I'm planning to make next month. I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia & my budget is around MYR 1,500.00 or USD 500 more or less.

Usage-Surfing, playing flash games, officework, playing movies. The only graphic intensive games that I'll be playing is FIFA 10 & Pro Evo Soccer.

Planned build:

CPU
AMD Athlon II X3 440
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103843

HDD
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

Mainboard
ASRock M3A785GM-LE

RAM
Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) X 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134812

DVD
LITE-ON 24X SATA CD/DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289

PSU
SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151093
OR
SILVERSTONE ST50F-ES 500W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256061

Case
COOLER MASTER Elite 330
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119115

Monitor
Acer V203HCJbd 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009238

I'm planning to use the integrated graphics on the 785G motherboard only.

Can anyone tell me if there's any parts that I should upgrade or any parts thats overkill for my usage.

I'm not going to overclock & I'm planning to use Windows 7 (not sure which edition yet).

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Solution
^ IMO you wont need 500W+ PSUs...
My suggestions would be - Antec EA 380 or 430/ Corsair 400/ Seasonic S12II 380B 380W

And as for RAM, if am not wrong, you get even Corsair RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145278
For roughly the same price around the world, so better to get those...

CASE - Check if the Antec 200 is available...It would cost roughly the same as that CM and has better airflow...Even NZXT Gamma or Beta EVO are also good options and fall in the same price range...

Rest looks good...

Actually had loads of clients doing just that : PES 2010, DOTA, SIMS yada yada on latest IGP solutions

I do not have specific benches for HD 4200 IGP for PES 2010 in my vault of data, stats and benches but interpolating:

Good to go for 1280 x 1024 medium hehe

I also agree : 500Watter is a tad too much

Hi guys,

Thanks for the answers. Got a few questions...

1. Is the Corsair RAM better than Kingston...in what way?
2. For the PSU, I might get a graphic card later so is 500Watts still too much or should it be okay?
3. For the motherboard, its either the Asrock M3A785GM-LE or MSI 785GM-P45, which is better, or should I get something else, I'm looking for a reliable budget 785G motherboard.

Currently there's not a lot of stores that carry Antec or NXZT casings in Malaysia, so the choice is limited and the price is different.

Thanks for the great answers.

1. Corsair RAMs are more reliable.
2. 500W would be OK if you will be getting cards like HD 5850 and above...
3. Mobo - See if you are getting newer 870/ 880 chipsets...

As for the cases, well if there are not many available, then I would suggest you to check out the current offerings in person and then make the purchase as sometimes, even small companies can come up with good cases...

I might get the HD 4850 or just the HD 5670. I think I'll stick with the Silverstone Strider 500W since it won't cost so much.

For the mobo I can only afford the 785G chipset so its either Asrock or MSI.

How do I check the casings for good airflow?

^ See if the case has atleast a front intake and back exhaust fan...If there are vents, it would help in air movement...Also more fans the better, but again if the fans are not of good quality, you might have noise issue...
As for the board - Get the one cheaper...You can also check out the 770 chipset from ASRock as they are cheaper...So maybe spend that money on a better card...

^ Well ASRock boards are fine, I had built a PC based on an ASRock board for my sister and is still working fine for the past 1 year...So for a day-to-day PC, it is fine...Only while going high-end, better to stick with ASUS/ Gigabyte/ MSI...

I might get a card later & I like the idea of having an IGP as backup in case I fry the card. My usage is not that heavy so I don't think I need high end parts except for the PSU.

I'm planning to get the cheapest case possible & just buy additional fans to improve airflow.

I'm still unsure about which PSU to get though. That might be the last thing I get. Antec, Seasonic & Corsair are not widely distributed here so the choices are limited & the price are quite high.

Yeah...I won't be pushing the cards to the limit so I'm gonna go with an entry level card so 400W should be enough...

So...which part do you see as the weakest & candidate for the next upgrade & which part is too much for my usage...
