Here's the ED2K link for a 6 minute video preview of UE3 I just ran across:

I use Overnet, but you can also use EDonkey or EMule. It's a client used to
trade files over a peer-to-peer network.

Maybe it'd just be better if I post the movie itself somewhere?

The binaries group would be good if you have bandwidth to spare.

Finally finished the download Visine. It's a little over 6 megs, but it's
fantastic. It makes 2K4 look like old Saturday morning cartoons. We are fast
approaching the real-life looking game as this video clearly shows.

About posting to ABGU....I've never posted to it. If you'd care to enlighten
me as to how, I'd be happy to do it. Right now I'm powersharing it across
overnet as very few have full copies. That's why it took so long to finish
such a small file. You guys really should see this if you have interest in
the future of UT. It's going to make the mappers absolutely salivate.

Sorry. It's a little over 43 Megs. My bad. I looked at the wrong file.

A post would be great if you can.

First off can you subscribe to ABGU? some providers dont carry it.

If yes just post as normal and insert the file into the message.

You are useing outlook express so first off go tools--news
acounts--properties--advanced and set OE6 to break apart big files at what
ever size you feel is handy 512k maybe. save that.

then compose you message and send.

I'll try and snag it off Edonkey but there are only 11 sharing right now so
that may take awhile.

Laterss goPostal

thanks for posting it there. Now, a comment and question:

what is this? doom3? ;op

what I could see of it looked good, but a lot of the video was too dark to
see the details, just like like doom3. Did you have spots where it was
too dark to see? One spot was when they said to look at the details on a
brick, and I couldn't even see the brick on the dark screen, let alone the
detail!

Something got screwed in the translation then. It's not dark at all on my
version. In fact the bricks each seem to have their own "depth" instead of
being just a texture. I'm not sure how it works but the end effect is pretty
stunning. They explain how during the video but it quickly turned to Greek
for me right about the part where the narrator says "This is accomplished
by........" :)

I will powershare on Overnet if you'd like to try that route. My nick is
"vggnk". Let me know and I'll add you as a partner (or anyone else here that
wants). I'll be home about 6 P.M. Pacific time if you have trouble getting
queued. Just drop me an IM. I'll leave it on all day today. I'm sorry the
binary posting didn't work, but you won't be disappointed in putting in a
little extra effort to see this.

Man, this demo is unbelievable!
That's nearly photorealistic!

I just wish I really understood how they get such gorgeous textures with
such a low polygon count. The narrator kind of touches on it, but only in a
cursory way. You can only imagine the coming maps.....
