Hello,

I am about to have 2 SSD Sata 6GB for Raid 0 configuration with my Sabertooth X58.
wich method would be much better,
using Asus Drive Xpert Tools set with Superspeed Mode, or by using Marvell 9128 Controller with Raid 0 set.

any input would be much appreciated!

thanks in advance.

regards!

Anyone have an answer? This seems to be a popular question.

I have read it is not possible to use raid on x58 sata III (6 gb) but...

I have mine set up with Crucial M4 64mb on the Sata III raid 0, when I boot the marvel post shows it is configured on sata iii , but when win7 comes up I have one 128mb dive.
I can't tell if this is really in raid configuration...

hi sepman1.
Thanks for your respond
yes i think you are right. it is not possible in X58.
but what method is the best if i want it to make a raid 0 (2 x SSD Sata6GB) since in Asus X58 boards could be done with : Asus Tools Drive Xpert in Superspeed mode, or manualy configure Raid 0 in Marvell Controller, or by using Intel Matrix in ICH10R?

I am no expert, but this is my experience -

Try 1: Asus sabertooth x58 with crucial m4 sata III 64 gb - tried on sata III ports first trying to set up raid 0. Marvell post allowed me to set them up in what appears to be raid as shown on the post ( went in menu and created virtual disk or whatever it was) Win 7 64 running on the ssd with clean install shows drive total 128 gb ( This is what initially led be to think it was not really on raid 0 ) ran benchmark with crystal and got seq read 329 seq write 186. Then actually installed newest marvell drivers and no sig change.

Try2: This time clean install on raid 0 on sata ii ports. Newest intel drivers installed, now blazing fast crystal scores seq read 533 seq write 207. Incidentally win7 still show total drive space as 128 gb. Intel drive configuration does confirm raid 0. I also installed regular hdd on raid 0 as well, these also confirmed on raid with intel drive configuration.

Conclusion? As read in many places , sata iii raid not functional or not optimized on x58? If anyone has any thoughts or work arounds please reply.
