Hi everyone,

I'm going to be receiving a GTX 460 (full name in title) and I would like to know what would be the best Power Supply for it.

I know that it requires at least 450 Watts...but I have heard complaints from people using even 600 Watts - that the card wasn't working right for reason or other!

I'm very worried that I might have just spent $250 (R2000 ZAR) on something that might explode if I'm not using the right PSU. I'm looking at PSUs from 500Watts to 650Watts (with a decent price tag - as my resources are somewhat limited after my recent purchase... ;) )

If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would be very grateful.

Here are a few reliable ones

That's a Corsair and OCZ type for you.....
Of course there is Thermaltake and Coolermaster too... but I really couldn't talk about their reliability... although I know quite a few people who have them and have no complains.....

Thanks alyoshka, your suggestions were very helpful. Unfortunately for me, here in South Africa, finding these PSUs is a challenge; finding affordable ones (with enough oomph!) even more so. :??:

If anyone has the 01G-P3-1373-KR version of my GTX 460, could they - in particular - recommend a PSU for me? That would be a blessing...

Thanks for the suggestion obsidian86, this one is definitely a PSU to consider. :) I'm also considering buying the OCZ StealthXStream 600W (OCZ600SXS), as the reviews for it are amazing. According to HardwareSecrets, this PSU can handle over 700Watts!

So the price difference between the two is R118 (approx $16)...but they both cost far more here in SA, than they do in either the US/EU - respectively.

There is also the Seasonic S12-II-620 620W ATX PSU, which is also something to consider... All the potential PSUs have a 3 year warranty...so now I really don't know what to choose! Perhaps there is a difference in the noise levels emitted?

If anyone could compare/contrast the OCZ600W with the Seasonic S12-II-620 and the Seasonic S12-II-520, I would be extremely grateful!

Thanks everyone for your help! :D

Obsidian has provided you with good information. Seasonic is far superior to OCZ; some OCZ units may use lesser-spec'ed parts (e.g. capacitors) that may not hold up as well under stress. They start out performing well enough, but will degrade more quickly. Seasonic, however, doesn't seem to know how to make a bad PSU (at least not any more, if they ever did).
