Cpu and motherboard compatability

Hi was just wondering if the athlon II x4 620 is compatable with the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO 785G.
any help would be much appreciated

Was abit confused because on the asus website the compatability chart goes up to the x3 variation

It should handle it, you can always call a support line to make sure before you buy it.

Check the CPU TDP compatibility specification. The Rana (X3) TDP is 95W, the Propus (X4) is also 95W. There shouldn't be any problem.

AFAIK, if you want to use a higher spec'd CPU not listed on the mobo's CPU support list, you might need to update the BIOS first. I don't know about Asus though.

Just in case you're worried, make sure to check whether or not you need to update the BIOS. But logically speaking, it shouldn't be necessary... :)

I think you misread the CPU support chart a bit. The 785 supports every AMD CPU all the way up to the Phenom II X6's.
