Do I need Intel Rapid Storage Manager | Have 2 Hardware RAID Cards Tags: NAS / RAID Rapid Storage Intel Storage commissarmo November 4, 2012 12:21:51 PM I run 4 RAID arrays running each off of a different RAID card (LSi and Adaptec on one machine, and two LSi on the other). On both Win 7 machines, Intel Rapid Storage Manager processes IAStorDataMgr and IAStorIcon are running in the background, the former of which is using CPU cycles somewhat heavily (10-15%). I'm wondering... 1. Why this process is running in the first place, as my RAID cards are all hardware RAID, and run with the software provided by the card maker; I have no other RAID systems running on either machine. 2. Why the process is using so much CPU, if it does need to run... and... 3. Can I turn it off? ***The only thing I can think of is that the RAID managers require Intel's drivers to run their RAID arrays, but it seems odd.
