I'm gonna be working on my kitchen table with this sorta plastic cover.

I'd recommend not using plastic cover,
Bare wood would be best, hence Breadboard testing

It's better then working on carpet.

Plastic can conduct electricity quite nastily,
A static blast off unwrapping parcels hurts lol,
As Mr Pizza said, working on carpet in socks is another one to avoid
Go for bare wood if you can, and touch the case to ground yourself often, or buy a static wrist strap if you feel the need, I just touch my case a lot
