Read the articles on the x6 CPU. It doesnt perform any better than the x4 in gaming.

I would google a professional review of that PSU before buying it just to be sure its not a dangerous piece of junk.

Read the latest GPU article (best graphics cards for the money august 2010) and see if that is the GPU you want. Right now there are lots of good choices at the high end from both ATI and Nvidia.

Agreed with Mr Pizza. 6 cores are nice to have when encoding, but games aren't able to use them. A good quad core is your best bet as a gamer.

Maybe spend some of the money saved on an 890FX motherboard? Having the ability to crossfire your 5870 later on provides for a cheap and effective upgrade (the 880 only has a 16x and a 4x slot, putting a card in a 4x slot is a disaster).

Don't get a Cooler Master PSU, they're average at best. Get Antec or Corsair, 650W should do nicely.

And if you consider overclocking, where's your cooler?

EDIT: dndhatcher, why would he select anything else than a 5870? The 480 is more expensive and a nightmare to cool. There are no other cards in that price range, so it's an easy choice, no?

A pair of 5770 is cheaper at about the same performance. A pair of 460s is about the same price but substantially faster. Read the articles; Toms only gives the 5870 an honorable mention now. Its a good card, but not a great value relative to other options. The 5850 and 5870 are no longer undisputed good values.
