The P55 and X58 is not an option as they're 1156 boards and the i5-2500k is a 1155 processor.

Take a look at the Asrock P67 Extreme4 motherboard.

Depends on your budget and how much you are willing to spend on a motherboard. I think that one ranges from $160 to $170. I wouldn't spend much more than that.

There's some MSI boards that are ok. Biostar, possibly.

I wouldn't get a Gigabyte one... seems like they have a lot of issues for their 1155 boards.

That is funny you say that about Asus..I refuse to buy their motherboards..but with that being said they are an excellent company, with great products, they just did not work properly for me.I go with Gigabyte as my first choice, then MSI,and of course EVGA gets a worthy mention. For me to recommend a good motherboard,I gotta question what your primary purpose is,gaming,benching....etc..???Also another question I have is how much is your budget?what is your range as far as spending?I'll give you a few choices..here is the first..being budget....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130583..THE REASON I chose this board is because it has great potential. You get a decent amount of features for a great price. You also get SLI or Crossfire(whichever you prefer).Another thing I like about this board is the fact it has room for excessories. If you have a PCIe soundcard you can install it in the first slot away from interfearing with the airflow of the graphics card or cards.or if you have a PCI soundcard you can install it all the way at the end of the board without any hassle from or towards any of your other components. This motherboard also has extra PCIe X1 slots in the middle if you want to add other components like a Revo Drive(Ssd),or a TV Tuner, etc.......It also got really good reviews, too, and overclocks very well.....The 2ND board I recommend is if you are spending a little bit more money.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188082....This item is currently unavailable but it has the best performance I have seen on any sub $300 board. The features are great.3 way SLI or Crossfire.I ordered this board for a friend who lives down the street and we had no issues with this motherboard at all.Overclocking wasn't a hassle.Everything worked well the 1st time and has been working great for 3 days now.Another thing that sells me is the placement of all the slots on the board.Especially when you get enough room for 3-way SLI,and a big plus is the PCIe X1 at the left of the PCIe 2.0 X16 slots.I have had issues getting my soundcards to work when I try to install my souncards in a PCIe 2.0 X16 slot,I mean I can get them to work but sometimes it is a run-around,same with the PCI slots. On the other hand, the PCIe X1 has been 100% successful with me,no hiccups,no issues. Both motherboards are great boards but in the end,the decision is up to you.If you only want to run 1 card,I would go with the MSI,If you want to run 2 or more,go with the EVGA...A 3rd choice to ponder is this......http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229.Has great features with a nice price.

i am trying to run it with one card. I want to computer to run fast and going to play a lot of games too. if my budget is $1000.00 Can anyone help me with good build. Including computer case... thanks in advance.

At this point, I am pretty much using only Asus boards. No issues with any other brand that offers an industry standard 3 year warranty (i.e. EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.).

One not on my list is AsRock as they only offer a 1 year warranty on their Z68 boards and 2 years on the 1155 B3 boards. I usually grab Asus cause the reviews almost always have them as the top OC performer and newegg almost always has a discount combo deal with the i7-2600k / i5-2500k.

P67 Boards - I'm not seeing the cost savings offered by the Asrock w/ 2 year warranty

$384 for i5-2500k + Asrock Extreme w/ 2 year warranty

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229

$379 for i5-2500k + P8P67 Pro w/ 3 year warranty
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.660725

$424 for i5-2500k + Sabertooth w/ 5 year warranty

Again, I don't have any issues with the boards from MSI, Giga, EVGA but at this point, given my experiences w/ Asus Support and satisfaction w/ last 15 or 16 builds, I just haven't had a reason to shop elsewhere. But those I'd look at are:

For Z68 boards (most notable advantage is associated with SSD usage)

Neither.

Intel's next architecture is Ivy Bridge w/ socket 2011? About a year away.

The Z68 chipset is just for a few more features including if you want integrated graphics and SSD Caching and something else, I forget?

I don't find the added features all that important or useful. The SSD caching is only if you have a smaller capacity SSD and no OS on it.

Also, some say the P67 is able to overclock more for some reason. Not sure about that, though.

I think if you want integrated graphics, you need to go with a Z68 board.

If not and you game or will use a separate graphics card, the P67 chipset is good enough.

I think Asus is ok but they have some issues if you want to use three graphics cards. They don't have a PLX bridge (google that if you need more info).

They have an Intel LAN and some people prefer that over Realtek's.

I don't like Gigabyte 1155 boards since so many are reported to have some power loop problem. Also, only a few of their Z68 boards have a video output. Most are just overrated Z68 boards (which are basically overpriced P67 boards).

MSI, Biostar and Asrock seem to have decent offerings. I prefer an UEFI Bios and guess what, none of the 1155 Gigabyte boards have that. Gigabyte 1155 boards are overrated and all hype, imho.

Google the boards you are interested in and see what you think.
