SSD and HDD

hi

i want to purchase an ssd to use as a boot drive and set up my current hdd as storage.
Should I just create an image using a cloning software or just reinstall windows to the ssd and completely
erase the contents from the hdd.

also is it safe to copy over games to an external hdd, so later i can move it back to the cleaned hdd or reinstalling the games would be a better choice?

You can cloning it to the SSD, but I will recommend to do the clean installation.

And you can't just copy the games to the external HD because some hiding files like registry files you will lose them during the copy. If you have steam games you can check out the link for how to move the games to other HD.
