The Brother MFC (multi-function center) printers are great and they have 4 different cartridges. You only have to swap out the color that's low.

They run $4.99 each or if you buy 3 or more they are $3.99 each at simplyink.com

I have a 4yr old Brother DCP-130C. It's a printer, flatbed scanner, copier and prints pretty darn good photo's with the regular cheap aftermarket ink cartridges.
