Motherboard or battery

Hello,
Just bought a replacement battery for my Dell xps m1530. I have been running on ac power for a while bc the original battery completely fried, and I finally got around to getting a new one.
Anyway, put the new battery in and after a few hours cp started making a ringing noise and the screen went black. After a few tries got it to start back up, and everything was ok for the rest of the day. Last night, I was watching a movie and my cp just froze and then restarted. When it restarted it worked okay again for a few minutes then froze again. Restarted and got the blue screen. Is it the battery causing this or the mobo or is it from overheating?

Overheating, most likely. Use a canned air product to clean the power supply fans and cpu or rear case fans. Some use vacuums but I prefer the solvent that evaporates quickly and leaves no residue. It's only a few dollars at most places like frys or radio shack.
