Hi all, I have some questions about the Syba Dual Slot 2.5-Inch SATA III HDD SDD Caddy RAID PCI-Express Card (SD-PEX40044).

http://www.amazon.com/Syba-2-5-Inch-Caddy-PCI-Express-S...

1) Does it have to be a RAID array or can I use it to house 2 SATA III HDDs (or SSDs)? I'm basically looking for a cheap alternative to the Sonnet Tempo: http://store1.sonnettech.com/product_info.php?&products...

2) Would this work with an ASUS Maximus V Gene Motherboard running Ubuntu 12.04?

3) What do you think of two of these taking up two PCIe slots with 2 small SSDs and 2 Seagate Momentus XT hybrids?

Thank you for your input!

I have this exact same question. (Google to the rescue: "Syba Dual Slot")

Scenario: Win7x64 - Running both a Corsair Force 3 240GB & a Crucial M4 128GB in a non-RAID configuration. I'd imagine that it shouldn't "require" you to run a RAID config considering it probably takes a manual setup in your BIOS for this setup?.

I have one on order, and will update this post within the next week or two.

I'll be installing this deal into my PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 on my Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H.
