I tried asking this a while ago but it was hard to make conclusions, so I'll make it more specific this time:

Which rig?

i7 930
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Mushkin Enhanced Redline CL6 (3 x 2GB)
EVGA 460

-OR-

965BE
MSI 890FXA-GD70
Partiot PGS34G1600LLKA CL7 (2 x 2GB) for AMD
XFX 5850

Two things to note: 1) rig is for Flight Sim FSX. 2) OC with watercooling will be added later.

Are you biased toward AMD?

I know I am, but too many are saying Intel and Nvidia are better for Flight Sim, though they never seem able to give a concrete reason.

Understand completely. Still using 3800+ at this time.

FSX can make full use of all the CPU power available.. The i7 930 is undoubtedly the more powerful CPU here.. So, if you are not afraid of overclocking, i'd recommend getting the i7 rig..
