Can't use my HDD, no option to partition it

I've googled my problem, and most of what I have seen say to partition the drive to make it usable, but as you can see from the screenshots, I don't have that option.

Windows says it's online, but could it actually not be connected properly?
This is the hard drive in question: http://www.ecost.com/p/6987448
Thanks in advance.

I can; I just didn't know what that was.

Yes, create a new volume, and it will ask you what size, select the size, and it will format it and assign a drive letter.
  4. Just real quick before I finish this, do I need to change anything on this screen? http://i.imgur.com/hWv4w.png
The other option on "File system" is "exFAT".
  5. u need to make the volume, after that, you can partition it.

    leave it NTFS

also, uncheck "quick format" if you want a better formatting to be completed
  6. No NTFS is fine, eXFAT is compatible with earlier OS's(Vista and XP) in case you were dual booting and wanted to access the same drive from both Win 7 and XP or Vista.
  7. You have not assigned a working drive letter to the drive my friend.
If you look no drive letter exists, it is waiting for you to give it a drive letter. Change the drive letter by right clicking on the drive shown in disk management . Select change drive letter and paths.Click on add. Select an unused drive letter, not currently in use eg: F.
    Format if needed.

Well, when I did right click, there was no option to assign a drive letter, so I didn't know what to do.
I did what the others have said to do and that gave me the option to assign a letter, and it is currently being formatted.
  9. Update: I got the hard drive formatted and it works great now. Thanks to everyone for their help!
