  1. If you want something similar to the 250, you can check out the hierarchy chart here.

I would recommend the the HD5770 for the price-performance ratio. It is a bit more expensive than the GTS 250 though.
  2. What is the native resolution of your monitor?
  3. 1440x900 using a acer al1916w but ocasionally ill hook my rig up to my 43" flat screen
  4. On the monitor a GTS 250 or an ATI card of similar performance(HD5750/HD4850) should be very good. If your television is 1080p however I would recommend at least an HD5770.

is your flat screen full hd or 720p, but from ati, you'd be looking at a 4850, for about $100 bucks which is about the same as a gts250, the 5750 for 120-135 maybe alittle better performance then the 4850, and the 5770hd for about 140-150 would be the on the about 20 30% better then the 250
  6. i think that its 720p because ive seen it say 720 something somewere but im not 100% on that. it was given to me by my bro b4 he went into the military so i didnt get a manual or anything. but im guessing my 3 top picks are the 250 4850 and 5770?
  7. Yeah, any of those cards should be good for 720p. The HD5770 and HD5750 are also DX11 compatible while the others are not so you may want to favor them if you can afford one.

Search for the mfg and model of the tv. Should be a manual and specs available in pdf from mfg.
  9. can anyone give a link to a geforce 250 that has good clockings and supports hdmi

There are a bunch here, but really the HD4850 is faster and will cost less.
However if I were buying today, I would pay $155 for an HD5770. It would be an easy choice.
  11. The HD4850 is not faster, its actually a bit slower nor does it particularly cost less at the moment.
    This a very nice version of the GTS 250 at a nice price after rebate;

  12. You mean besides the extra $20 price :p
  13. ok thanks everyone for the help
  14. according to this test

    a HD 4850 can run Modern Warfare 2 Maxed out DX9 4xAA/0xAF @ 1680x1050 at 60FPS

    http://www.techspot.com/article/219-cod-modern-warfare-2-gpu-performance/page5.html

this benchmarks say GTS 250 1GB is faster than HD 4850 in most games

they also say GTS 1GB consumes less power in both IDLE and LOAD

i would recommend you to get either a GTS 250 1GB or HD 4850 1GB if you want the most bang for the buck for your needs

both of these cards look very attractive and have non-reference design which means lower idle and load temperature :)

    the price looks promising
