New build - won't boot

Hello,
I have a new build sabertooth x58 with i7 -950. at first boot attempt mobo leds for cpu, mem-ok and boot device flash for less that 1 second. All fans spin for a second then everything is quiet. I turn off the power button until the standby power led goes out, turn it back on and the I can repeat above. Any clues

Check your cpu heatsink to be sure it's level and all clips are engaged. Also check for loose screws or other metal under the board or in the backplate area.

Is this some kind of master control power center or something and not the power button on the case?

ok, it tunrs out the speaker connection from the front panel was causing a problem. When I disconnected it every thing works fine....
