hi im planning to get this computer

http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6327523&sku=P101-10090

and i would like to know which graphics card i should get.. either the geforce 9800gt with 1GB or the geforce 9800gtx+ with 512MB..

I plan to play games such as left 4 dead, teamfortress 2 and bioshock. which graphics card should i get? is the gtx+ more for hardcore gamers? i'm not really sure about the difference in the two. the whole techinical bit is quite confusing. any help would b appreciated.

thank you.

More about should geforce 9800gt geforce 9800gtx
  1. I did not see the size of the power supply in the link. The rest of the computer will be well matched with 9800GTX+ or GTS250 which is newer version of the GTX+ if the PSU can handle it. Recommended PSU size is 450watt with 24amps on the +12 volt rail.
  2. well im planning to get this power supply

    http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2227022&sku=GEN-2004

to upgrade it to 550 watts. ive also heard people complaining about the size of the graphics card.. will the gtx+ fit?
  3. The 9800GT is 9" long and the 9800GTX+ is 10.5" long.
  4. so i would b able to fit either one?
  5. You would be better of with this PSU http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4236686&CatId=1078 it is cheaper after MIR but is an under rated highly recommended quality unit. Although it is rated at 400watts it is more powerful than many 500+watt generic PSU's like you linked to.
Being a mini tower the card should fit but you should go for the GTS250 http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5677179&CatId=3670 which is the same card in new wrapping.

With a case depth of 16.85" you should have over 6" to spare depending on HDD cage placement.
  7. The GTS250 card I linked to is shorter than the standard 9800GT at 7.59" and should fit. http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/512-P3-1140.pdf
  8. so the GTS250 is basically the same as the 9800gtx+?

to be on the safe side im going to get a 550 watt power supply but this one is corsair also so im assuming it s better?

The GTS250 is the 9800GTX+, Nvidia changed the name for reasons that are still not entirely clear even though reasons have been given.
  10. Oh and Corsair PSU's are top notch, you can't go wrong with that one.
  11. k thanks alot everyone :D
im going to get the corsair 550 watt and the gts250. the gts250 is alot cheaper also which makes it even better :)
