How much watts does a q8400 consume overall? i am asking only for the power consumption of the processor not the entire system.

also tell me the amps it takes from the 12v line of the psu? also is the temps mentioned are ok for a q8400(52,44,49,52) at idle

and it is quite high when playing mass effect2 (72,68,67,66) at load. i am using qori 3335 and intel stock cooler.

More about : power draw

how about watts in load and can you convert in amps?

then in this reviews at idle they show 135 and at load they show 209 why is it ?

i have read many reviews and am confused in this topic could you explain this in detail?

As an addition to Dipankar's excellent description, to measure the power draw from the CPU only is difficult. What the reviews acquired are the total power draw at the power outlet. As for the portion of power draw, the largest are the CPU and chipset. The rest is only a mere few watts in terms of power consumption. If a discrete GPU is used, that will also be a top power consumer, although it depends on the GPU model itself.

I hope that clears out your confusion. :D

yeah i have heard about the reviews.but adding the cpu and gpu(gtx460) the total wattage comes to about 260 which is well below the 324W of the 12v line

so i believe it is safe to run a gtx 460. i also saw a review about a person using a core 2 duo and gtx460 1gb on the zeb 600w psu have you known anyone using

this psu for a gtx460

Quote:
Mate it is not difficult.Max TDP of that cpu is 95watt, mentioned by intel which means that's the max power it consumes.
Thanks for the compliment.

I was actually referring to the method which the CPU is measured. Theoretically, you're absolutely correct. But real time measurement may not be in check with data sheet numbers. There's a possibility that they differ, although for a mere few watts.

You deserve it, a good description indeed. ;)
