APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Probably this week

BUDGET RANGE: 700- 750 Before Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, everything else.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, OS, speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.com or Amazon.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United States, State California

PARTS PREFERENCES: Any, heard that AMD is better for budget gaming.

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe, this is my first build but I will try overclocking

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Not right away, but maybe in the future. Not so important right now.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Will be getting a new monitor after the computer, the resolution will be 1920x1200.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Would like to have a decent looking case, doesn't need to be overly flashy or anything.

The Parts I am thinking about right now:

AMD PhenomII X4 955BE Deneb 3.2GHz 6MB L3 Quad-Core 125W

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

These are just parts that were recommended by someone I know but if you know parts that would befit my computer better, please tell me.

RAM + CASE

GTX 460 + OCZ 600W

DVD

But if you will be going with a single card, then you can go with say the X3 440/ X4 635 and GTX 470...This would be a better setup for gaming...

Thank you for the suggestions, I have one thing to add to the original specifications and that is that I would like a motherboard that has a built in 8 channels audio. Is it true that the OCZ power supplies are a bit dodgy?

Reply to marliaths

I cant help you with the motherboard but if you plan on getting a new power supply go with one of these corsair psu's THERE ALL BEAST theres People running 4 HDD and 2 GTX280 in sli ON THE 550W VERSION! :ouch:

ocz is a brand name they own pc+p psu's it's a budget line but not necessarily bad
antec, corsair, pc+p are known better quility psu's if you cam afford them you can
always upgrade your power supply next year

Reply to marco324

Maybe they are not as good as the Corsair, but that OCZ Fatality series especially the 550W, is a good PSU...

Reply to gkay09

agreed this from a review and what i meant to say
Bottom Line: If you want ultimate performance with the most stable rails possible then consider another PSU, if you want good performance at a reasonable price and you don’t want to be able to hear it… then the OCZ Fatal1ty 550w is definitely one to consider.

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB is only 5 dollars more than the 500 GB HD and offers the same PSU combo. Something to keep in mind.

Also, you kind of need to decide now if you want to SLI in the future or not, because if you plan on it or want the option open you're going to want to get a different mobo and a PSU with more watts. Otherwise you're going to not be able to SLI without upgrading the mobo and PSU. But with your budget you'll probably have to settle for a single card setup, until next build.

I have one more question: I have heard good things about microcenter, and everything on there is very cheap. Does anyone have experience ordering from them?

Reply to marliaths

^ If am not wrong, most of the items are only available in-store that means you have to pick them up directly...If you live nearby a Microcenter store, then you can get parts cheaper...
