PLEASE HELP!! VGA to DVI converter adapter?

Strange. Software hardware conflict? How can your monitor have DVI set without a DVI port?

Well, might as well try it, the adapter is cheap and common anyway.  

My monitor has a DVI port... my cpu does not- only a VGA port.
I found an adapter on e-bay for $2, shipping included. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to take it to Best Buy and let them fix it. They said about $30. The desktop is for my kids. I use my laptop for school, so no big rush.

FYI- when the first thread posted I had to register and got an error message. I didn't realize it posted. Why do you have to be such a butt?
