Hello,

I am looking to build a PC that can is really good on games and just normal stuff. I am not a professional gamer or anything I play starcraft 2 or wow.. basically what I want is the best bang for the buck. If a pre-built system is a better deal I dont mind but I figured new build would be cheaper so i posted here. If its cheaper, why not.. since I am capable of putting together a PC. I used to be very tech savvy and know everything there is to know about computers, however, I have been really busy and fell behind last few years.

In my current PC is a pentium E series dual core which works pretty good i guess, I had an nvidia 9600 in it that fried for some odd reason, I think it was too close to my audigy which i dont really use anymore so i tossed it but everything else in the system is good. I can probably recycle HDD 250 gb sata, which is more than enough for me. Also my DVD RW but its kinda crappy wouldnt mind a new one if it fits. I have a really new monitor so im okay on that. I am willing to spend 450 ish maybe a tad bit more if it comes down to it.

P.S. If there is a deal with speakers included I woudlnt mind but they have to be big sound big bass. I just blew my speakers like 2 weeks ago and i feel helpless :p.

P.S. Also I have Hannds-G monitor 22' which im really happy with, howwever if there is a really good deal u guys know about i wouldnt mind a 24 or 26, it would have to have built in speakers tho, and if it also works as a tv thats a bonus. This monitor would be outside the budget range tho :)

Timeframe - from now till end of august
Location - Canada
Everythign else - no preference as long as I can get to the store or they deliver here im happy.

If I am missing anything please let me know :) Thank you very much for your time and help

sounds good.. the only thing im worried about is the power supply?? is 380 really enough?? also i live in an area with tons of power surges and all my previous pc's have blown due to this i believe.. would a better power supply help?? and be better for upgrade later?

I'm currently recommending this for a budget build. The integrated graphics are pretty good if youre not gaming. If you need to add a card, get a 5670 or 5750 for around $85-125

Solution

[strike]AMD770 chipset is a purpose-built DDR3 setup. It lacks only SATA 3, really, from more modern 8xx chipsets.[/strike]

I looked at that particular motherboard, and. you're right, thats not the DDR3 model. My apoloies on that.

lemme hunt a bit more

You really won't run up against a wall at the qualities you'll running at with 512 MB.

A770E is not a bad motherboard, but it is a budget 95W motherboard. It will limit your overclockablity, but the ACC works well (very good chance of unlocking that extra core). Note it only has one case fan plug on the motherboard.
