BD-RE drive keeps trying to read cd at startup, even when its disabled

So I have the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 LGA 1155 running intel 3770k.

Everything on computer works fine except when I shutdown the computer with a BD-ROM disc in the drive the next time I startup it will take forever making this god awful noise like its desparately trying to read a scratched cd or something.

I tried disabling it in the bios and even with only the HDD selected for bootup devices it still seems to use the BD-ROM drive
and make this highly annoying sound with an equally annoying 30-45 seconds extra startup time.

I noticed when I take the disc out before shutdown it doesn't do it though.

oh and the BD-RE drive is a LG WH14NS40.

Any idea what could be causing this problem?

More about drive read startup disabled
  1. Most BIOSes have a Boot Priority list. Just set that list so that the hard drive containing Windows comes before the CD/DVD drive, then remember to "Save & Exit"( usually F10).
  2. It only seems to happen when I have Elder Scrolls Skyrim in the BD-ROM drive
