Question about recently bought ATI Radeon 5450

Hi! I have just recently bought a new computer, with the following specs:
Intel i5 CPU 750 2.66GHz, Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz, and a ATI Radeon 5450 1GB 3MSI.
The OP is Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.
I have a Samsung "SyncMaster 931BF" screen, wich allows only the maximum resolution of 1280X1024.
From what I know, this computer should be able to run most new games on High quality on this resolution.

The problem is that in any game I install I encounter the problem that... well....
NONE of the games work without lagging when they are set onto High quality. :o
I am talking about games like Assassins Creed II, Just Cause II, GTA IV, Bioshcok 2, Crysis, COD:MW2
etc.

I have noticed that when I adjust the settings in the ATI control center, from Performance to Quality,
the Quality is great, but the game is horribly lagging. When I adjust in from Quality for performance,
the games look just HORRIBLE.

I would like to ask for your help in adjusting the graphics in the right way in the control center..
or any of the solutions you can offer.

Thanks in advance! :D

Daniel Bas.

i don't know who told you "this computer should be able to run most new games on High quality" but they are pulling strings. The ATI 5450 is designed for video playback, MS office, dual monitors, etc., Its hardly a video card capable of playing modern games at anything but low settings even at your resolution. Especially games like Crysis, Just Cause, GTA IV. You can use the link below to get an ideo of how well you can play certain games. I would suggest a video card upgrade if you want to game.

Just a local computer store in the city.

look for an ATI 5670, it will run on a 300w PSU

the ATI 5750 will give you more horsepower to run crysis and GTAIV but will also need a 400w PSU.

both cards can be found cheaper online ($90 for the 5670, $125 for the 5750) then at local stores.

just get the ATI 5750, sell the 5450 on ebay.

the GTS250 and ATI 4850 also offer similar performance but lack DX11 support and use more power (although both will run with a decent 450w PSU). They both tend to cost about $25 less then the 5750.

there's an open box 5750 for $100 on newegg

Just found out the shop is willing to refund me 100$ for the card and I can pick another.
I am pretty cash limited, so which one is it going to be?

ATI Radeon HD 5670, ATI 5750 or ATI 4850?

in terms of performance, the 4850 and 5750 are equal. the 5750 offers dx11 but that's really not a big deal.

the 5670 is a step below but still a solid gaming card for your resolution.

i would think the 4850 would be the cheaper of the three and offer you the most bang for your buck.
