Hey guys,

I'm replacing my Gigabyte UD3R after having way too many problems, and I've been debating against these two motherboards.

1. ASUS P6X58 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131715
2. EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188069

After addressing the problems with my old Motherboard, someone recommended the P6X58. My research has been pretty minimal, but I'm leaning towards Asus for the brand name reliability (2 friends of mine have been running systems o/c at 3.6 for the past 3 years). However, when I began browsing newegg, I became impressed with EVGA's Motherboard rating. Any thoughts from the good people?

My system, built in August 2010:
Old Mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423&Tpk=x58a-ud3r)
CPU: i7-930 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225&cm_re=i7_930-_-19-115-225-_-Product)

Graphics Card: PNY Geforce GTX 470 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133341&Tpk=pny+geforce+gtx+470)
RAM: Muskin Redline 6 GB-3x2//DDR3 1600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226121&cm_re=20-226-121-_-20-226-121-_-Product)//

I run both ASUS and EVGA, EVGA is a great minimalist Gaming MOBO; less is more. Problem or at minimum a note, unless it's using Marvell 9182 x2 lanes {not confused with 9128 x1 lane} and if you later added and SSD like OCZ Vertex 3 550/500 MB/s R/W the SATA3 ports cut-off at ~350-360+ MB/s. So you're left with adding a SATA3 Card e.g LSI or Adaptec which can easily cost as much as the MOBO.

Both ASUS P6X58-E WS and EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 are Marvell 9128.

Good X58's {Marvell 9128} -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&CompareItemList=280|13-131-755^13-131-755-TS%2C13-188-065^13-188-065-TS%2C13-188-066^13-188-066-TS%2C13-131-641^13-131-641-TS%2C13-131-642^13-131-642-TS

Not all Gigabytes are the same, the low-end like the UD3R are problematic, but the high-end are fine e.g. UD7, UD9 and those in the side-by-side.

Neither of them. Too costly. Get this one instead -

If you still want to spend so much then i'll recommend this -

P.S. - The EVGA board is an E-ATX model. If you are completely sold out on it then first make sure your case supports it.
