APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: End of August

BUDGET RANGE: $1000-1500

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Amateur Video Editing / Encoding, Facebook ;)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: All Peripherals and OS

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.ca or ncix.ca

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Canada

PARTS PREFERENCES: None - I went with AMD for price / what I've read about its OC'ing abilities, I would go I7 if suggested

OVERCLOCKING: Yes - nothing extreme - but stable on air

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes? Maybe? (Not necessary but yes if it gets a better end result for lower $$)

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I build a system once every 4 years. This is a big upgrade for me and I'd like it to be viable for a while, not necessarily to be able to incorporate new technologies. (but I think having USB3 / Sata 3 is prudent)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition - $212.87

--> H.Sink: Noctua NH-U12P SE2 - $79.99

MOBO: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO - $167.58

MEM: G.SKILL F3-16000CL9D-4GB - $137.98

Video: 2x Powercolor Radeon HD 4850 - $279.98 (2 x$139.99)

PS: OCZ GameXStream 850W - $94.99

HDD: Corsair Force Series 60GB SSD - $164.99
HDD2: Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB - $99.99

Optical: LG CH10LS20 Bluray/DVD - $119.99

Case: Antec Three Hundred Mini Tower Gaming Case - $53.99

TOTAL: $ 1412.35 CDN funds

Any forseeable compatibility issues? Any overkill? Any subpar choices?

I appreciate any thoughts / comments.

TIA!

I was going to argue against AMD and then I saw your build and was so impressed I changed my mind.

Changes....

The 965 and 955 overclock the same. Get the X4 955. Your motherboard has a combo deal with it.

The XFX 850W is a great deal on a top-tier PSU that has been well tested

Made by Seasonic.
The OCZ has never been properly tested and is made by an OEM associated with poor power supplies, FSP.

Antec 300 is too tight for 5850s. CM 690...

Get the 955 and just bump it up to 965 speed for less money (or higher as most of us would do).

$80 for a air cooler is a bit ridiculous, there are much better choices out there for cheaper.

4850's?? Those are older technology, they run hot, use more power. I would just get a single 5770 or 5850 and buy another later on when they drop in price.

You don't need 850w either and that psu is not very high quality in my book. Go for a better quality 650w or 750w.

Thanks for the Feedback. Makes a lot of sense. Order updated to follow your and Proximon's advice.

EDIT / UPDATE:

I priced the entire system from newegg.ca and the new price with changes dropped ~ $300!!

New TOTAL $ 1,174.91 CDN FUNDS (before shipping)

Thanks as well for the suggestion (s) and comments.

I updated the build with the suggestions and the price didn't really vary, but I feel it is better overall.
