Building My Own Gaming PC

Guys, i'm new to the site. I'm currently in the process of building a Game machine, which will double as a small file server to about 3 computers in a home network.

The following are the specs of the CPU:

Intel® Core™ i7 950 Processor
ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Diamond ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Video Card
Kingston HyperX T1 Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) Desktop Memory Model
WESTERN DIGITAL 1TB BLACK SERIAL ATA
Blu-Ray Drive
Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W
Thermaltake Element G Mid Tower

would these specs make a good gaming machine?

It all depends on the game(s) you wish to play.. The CPU is excellent but the video card is moderate at best.. It'll run every game though, at lowered detail levels in few such as crysis, just cause 2, supreme commander 2 etc..

You need to change the GPU.... go for the 5870/5850 or then the 6XXX series....
Rest is all cool....
Don't play Solitaire on it though.....

Well it's for games like far cry 2 an stuff like that, but thanks for the info, i think i'll by a 5870 or sumting along those lines
